What Is Varithena and How Does It Work?
Your doctor steers a tiny catheter into the vein using ultrasound, then pushes Varithena microfoam through it. The foam spreads inside the vein and makes it close up tight.
The active ingredient is polidocanol, combined with gas into a low-nitrogen microfoam. It displaces the blood and fills the whole vein, which spasms and collapses. Over time your body absorbs it and blood redirects to healthier veins.
